Your LinkedIn profile is more important than your resume!
Do I shock you with this statement? Think again.
Your Resume is typically being sent to individuals, to recruiters, or as a job application, which has limited exposure. Yet your LinkedIn profile is open to literally the entire world around the clock. Moreover, as we understand it, LinkedIn is now considered the choice tool by recruiters and human resources professionals because it is so user-friendly and searchable.
LinkedIn’s network is massive. It has grown to the point where it’s strange or even make suspicious if you don’t have a profile. If you’re applying for a job or requesting a sales/networking meeting; you better believe that person is going to look you up.
To make you recognizable you have to have a perfect profile that can represent you and your skills. But keep in mind that it is not like Facebook or Instagram. So, you have to treat it professionally.
You have to mention following things to have a good profile:-
- Who you really are and your passions.
- Your top career achievements.
- Goals you would like to achieve.
- A re-iteration of what you are currently looking for.
- Explain what you could add to a company.
- Explain how and why people should engage with you.
The more up to date your LinkedIn Profile is, the more likely you could be found on LinkedIn by someone who may have an opportunity you would be interested in.
Take your LinkedIn Profile seriously if you want to get real business value from LinkedIn.
